Miss Martis' 4th graders are currently learning about ecosystems and ways that animals are adapted to live in their ecosystem. One of their favorite topics during this unit was animal adaptations including mimicry and camouflage. Students were given an assignment where they had to create their own animal that was equipped with special adaptations to live in their environment.

The two specialized animals pictured are an "Great Horned Shark," which catches food by hiding in the sand and spearing prey with its horn, and a "Spiky Cat," which rolls into the ball and rolls over prey to catch it! The students really liked this assignment and they had a fun time coming up with creative ideas!
